If you prefer less fright and more humor (life can be scary enough!), perhaps a lighthearted comedy is what you seek.

No matter what you desire, the Watch With Us team has included some great picks in our list of October 2025 Netflix sitcoms. With stars like Eliza Coupe and New Girl‘s Max Greenfield, there’s a lot to chuckle about this month.

Looking for more suggestions? Don’t miss out on Exciting Shows on Netflix, Hulu, Max, Amazon Prime Video and More, Top Shows on Netflix Right Now, Best of HBO and Max Right Now and Current Favorites on Peacock.

This exciting new animated series from Rick and Morty writer Matt Roller has become a fan favorite, rightfully so — packed with ghosts, mayhem, and family dynamics, it features Will Forte! The plot centers on single mother Katherine (Eliza Coupe, Happy Endings) alongside her two children. Seeking a new life, they move into the Undervale Hotel, which her deceased brother Nathan left for her — only to discover that Nathan (Forte) is among the many spirits haunting the place!

With a host of supernatural events, the family must come together to confront the more sinister entities residing in the hotel and actually entice some human guests to check in. The impressive voice cast features Superman‘s Skyler Gisondo as Katherine’s teen son Ben and Westworld‘s Jimmi Simpson  voicing Abaddon, a demon trapped in the form of a young boy from the 1700s. Just your average family sitcom milieu.

This moving series is both relatable and groundbreaking, presenting a unique take on life. It follows Ryan Hayes, a fictionalized version of creator Ryan O’Connell, a gay man with cerebral palsy who decides to venture outside the sheltered existence his mother, Karen (Jessica Hecht), has crafted for him. Special satirizes work culture, dating, LGBTQ+ life, and disability with fresh insights and sharp humor.

Punam Patel shines as Ryan’s fiercely supportive friend, Kim, guiding him through the quirky online content creation company, “Eggwoke,” where they both work. With just two seasons, Special offers an ideal binge-watching experience filled with joy.

Before black-ish became a household name, the iconic Tracee Ellis Ross  cemented her legacy in Girlfriends, a groundbreaking series depicting the lives, professions, and friendships of four Black women in Los Angeles. Ross plays Joan Clayton, the unofficial “den mother” to her best friends Maya (Golden Brooks), Lynn (Persia White), and Toni (Jill Marie Jones). The diverse social backgrounds and economic conditions of these women lead to unique views on careers, romance, and friendship, but they stand united in support of one another.

Girlfriends was groundbreaking, prioritizing the representation of African-American women while tackling real issues such as work challenges, love, and personal identity with both sensitivity and humor.

Though the animation style might remind you of Bojack Horseman (and understandable because it was produced by the same team), Long Story Short could be closer to The Conners in its deep dive into family drama. We follow the Schwooper family — Naomi (Lisa Edelstein) and Elliot (Paul Reiser) along with their children Avi (Ben Feldman), Shira (Abbi Jacobson) and Yoshi (Max Greenfield).

Narrated through a nonlinear timeline from the ’90s to the present day, this family sitcom intricately explores the affection and tensions that weld the family together — and sever them at times. BoJack fans need not fret — even though there aren’t any anthropomorphic characters, the combination of humor and heart is equally present.

Girls creator Lena Dunham presents this romantic comedy series featuring Jessica (Meg Stalter, Hacks), a compassionate young woman whose recent breakup pushes her to relocate to London. With a passion for British romcoms like Notting Hill and Bridget Jones’ Diary, she dreams of romance, but her expectations shift upon meeting Felix (Will Sharpe, The White Lotus), forging an unexpected bond.

As Jessica reconsiders her complicated relationship with her ex (Michael Zegen) and juggles feelings for his new partner Wendy (Emily Ratajkowski), she must reflect on her beliefs about love — and determine whether she’s genuinely the victim or part of the dilemma in her past romances.

Witty, provocative, and unpredictable, this amalgamation of Girls and Love Actually is destined to provide a delightful watch. Don’t miss it!

Comedian Leanne Morgan takes center stage in this fresh sitcom from the creator of The Big Bang Theory, featuring a woman in her 50s who must reinvent her life after her husband departs. Offering a refreshing perspective on late-in-life love, Leanne includes jokes about pelvic floor exercises and other age-related topics. However, it also treads familiar sitcom territory — and that’s what makes it charming.

It delivers an instant classic feel reminiscent of sitcoms that starred comedians like Everybody Loves Raymond or Home Improvement. Morgan’s Southern background (she hails from Tennessee, the show’s setting) adds to its appeal and gives it a distinct voice. Among Netflix’s sitcom offerings, Leanne is a standout.

Exploring later-life comedy and romance, this beloved Netflix series focuses on Grace Hanson (Jane Fonda) and Frankie Bergstein (Lily Tomlin), who find themselves divorced after their husbands fall in love with each other. After grappling with the shock and upheaval, Grace and Frankie become unlikely roommates, ultimately developing a solid friendship as they navigate the challenges of changing lives together.

Grace is sophisticated and organized, while Frankie is quirky and spirited — yet they learn that their differences fortify their relationship. Together, they tackle dating, parenting their adult children, and even launching a business, remaining supportive despite occasional conflicts.

Injecting a blend of wit, originality, and irreverence, Grace and Frankie is the brainchild of Friends creators Marta Kauffman and fellow sitcom veteran Howard J. Morris.

Chuck Lorre, of The Big Bang Theory and Two and a Half Men fame, is the co-creator of this heartfelt sitcom featuring Anna Faris and Allison Janney. In Mom, we follow the journey of Christy Plunkett (Faris), a single mother attempting to rebuild her life after overcoming addiction. Balancing parenting her two kids while navigating her tumultuous relationship with her mother, Bonnie (Janney), who is also a recovering alcoholic, the dynamic is both humorous and tense as they work to heal their fractured family and support each other in sobriety.

The unique fusion of meaningful character development and quirky humor made Mom a fan favorite amongst sitcom enthusiasts. Faris and Janney’s chemistry beautifully captures themes such as addiction, recovery, and forgiveness, all while remembering to deliver laughs.

A recent Netflix installment, this comedy penned by Mark Critch‘s popular memoir resonates warmly with Canadian audiences. It offers a humorous yet heartfelt reflection of young Mark’s life in 1980s St. John’s, Newfoundland. Child actor Benjamin Evan Ainsworth embodies Mark, while Mark Critch himself features as his father, Mike Critch. The role of “Pop,” Mark’s gruff yet funny grandfather, is played by British actor Malcolm McDowell from Mozart in the Jungle . The Critch family navigates their small-town life through comedic yet relatable challenges.

The series melds comedic family storytelling with a uniquely Newfoundland perspective, making it a standout option for fans of shows like Derry Girls or The Goldbergs.

Kristen Bell and Adam Brody  star in this successful romantic comedy about the true love story of podcaster Erin Foster. Bell’s character Joanne is a single woman hosting a sex and dating podcast with her sister Morgan (Justine Lupe, Succession). Joanne’s life takes a twist when she meets Noah (Brody), a charming rabbi who seems to be the ideal partner.

Complications soon arise—Noah’s ex (Emily Arlook) is eager to reclaim him, and his mother (Tovah Feldshuh) isn’t fond of Joanne. For Joanne and Noah’s relationship to progress, she must consider converting to Judaism. Can love truly conquer all? (Foster’s experiences suggest it can, but the path to happily ever after is just as thrilling.)

Nobody Wants This fluctuates between witty humor and heartfelt moments, revealing relatable truths about modern dating along the way. Its second season launches on October 23; catch up now!

Sex and the City creator Darren Star introduces a fresh perspective on New York City life in this clever sitcom starring Broadway star Sutton Foster. Foster plays Liza Miller, a 40-year-old single mother who, after facing a tough divorce and realizing limited job options for women her age, decides to restart her career by posing as 26. Liza’s double life, known only to her best friend and roommate Maggie (Debi Mazar), leads her into various comedic situations spotlighting the disparities and stereotypes dividing generations.

As the younger version of herself, Liza forms a bond with Kelsey Peters (Hilary Duff) and finds herself entangled in a love triangle with charming bartender Josh (Nico Tortorella) and her appealing boss Charles (Peter Hermann). Younger tells a tale of reinvention, aspirations, and friendship, enhanced by Foster’s captivating performance.

While we wait for the Spice Girls to announce their much-anticipated reunion, fill your ’90s nostalgia with the hilarious sitcom Girls5eva, produced by the masterminds behind 30 Rock , Tina Fey and Robert Carlock. In this delightful series, former members of a ’90s girl group reconnect when a contemporary artist samples their hit song. Despite being in their 40s and juggling new jobs and relationships, members Dawn (singer-songwriter Sara Bareilles), Wickie (Renée Elise Goldsberry, Hamilton), Summer (Busy Philipps, Freaks and Geeks), and Gloria (Paula Pell, Saturday Night Live) decide to rekindle their musical aspirations.

The parody tunes shine in this show, with gems like “Dream Girlfriends” (they never have to converse!) and “Space Boys” (who are on a mission to kiss boys!) brilliantly satirizing the musical trends of the ’90s. The witty dialogue is reminiscent of the sharp humor found in 30 Rock and The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, making it a must-see. So, don’t hesitate—check it out!

Let’s tackle a popular topic, shall we? The conclusion of How I Met Your Mother was undeniably contentious. The premise follows hopeless romantic Ted Moseby (Josh Radnor) narrating to his children how he met their mom, leaving viewers intrigued for nine seasons about one critical question: who ultimately wins Ted’s heart? The answer may not please every viewer, yet it shouldn’t overshadow the delightful charm of this long-running series.

HIMYM is packed with humor, featuring clever dialogue, relatable themes, and stellar performances by Neil Patrick Harris, Alyson Hannigan, Jason Segel and Cobie Smulders. Our advice? Concentrate on the adventure, rather than the finish line. Embrace HIMYM as an enjoyable journey of best friends, and you’re bound to have a legen — wait for it — dary time.

Sex and the City established the blueprint for sitcoms about single women in their thirties for generations. It’s no surprise that the lives of Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Charlotte (Kristin Davis), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), and Samantha (Kim Cattrall) sparked two films and an additional series, HBO’s And Just Like That. One could argue that the film He’s Just Not That Into You acts as an offshoot of SATC on some level.) This series laid the foundation for shows like Insecure, The Mindy Project, Girls  and many others.

As these four women navigate changing careers, romances, fashion, and all the challenges of life, one constant is their friendship. The bonds between these distinct women are what truly draw audiences back to this recognizable series. As Charlotte rightly asserts, they are each other’s soulmates. What more could one ask for?

One of the latest and most endearing sitcoms on Netflix, North of North, tells the charming story of a young Inuk woman living in the Arctic. Siaja (Anna Lambe) married the town’s golden boy right after high school, quickly becoming a wife and mother. After experiencing an accident, Siaja grows discontented with her situation, prompting her to divorce her husband and step into a new chapter of life. Lambe delivers an effervescent and comedic performance as she encounters the highs and lows of small-town life and single motherhood.

In a tight-knit community where everyone knows everyone’s business, can one truly reinvent themselves? Siaja attempts to find that answer in this heartwarming series showcasing a community that has rarely been represented on television.

Supported by her quirky landlord Schneider (Todd Grinnell) and her glamorous mother Lydia (Rita Moreno), the Alvarez family endeavors to “muddle through one day at a time.”

Moreno dazzles with her star power in this sitcom that expertly balances social issues with genuine laughter. Be sure to catch the upbeat theme song, performed by Gloria Estefan – it’s sure to have you dancing through your living room with joy.

This Channel 4 comedy was a breakout platform for Bridgerton star Nicola Coughlan, who plays Erin’s anxious friend Claire. The hilariously stern Sister George Michael, ruling the school with precision, is played by Siobhán McSweeney. Fans of the ‘90s aesthetic, awkward coming-of-age narratives, and snappy dialogue in Irish accents will adore Derry Girls.
