The federal agent spearheading the enhanced immigration enforcement initiative in Chicago has mistakenly labeled a man apprehended by ICE agents as a rapist who was allowed to wander the city while pending trial.

The individual depicted in a photo linked to Gregory Bovino’s post — prominently featured in one of the agency’s signature “glamour shots” — has not been accused of sexual assault by anyone except Bovino himself.

“What brings us to the Chicago area?” Bovino’s post began. “To detain dangerous individuals and stop illegal activities.”

He proceeded to refer to the person apprehended in the accompanying image as “Exhibit A.”

“In addition to nine previous arrests (which included both felony and misdemeanor convictions), his latest arrest made headlines when, on March 30, 2025, he allegedly impersonated a rideshare driver in Chicago, IL, and sexually attacked a woman inside his vehicle after picking her up near a local nightclub,” Bovino wrote. “Charges included aggravated criminal sexual assault, aggravated kidnapping causing bodily harm, and unlawful restraint. He was released from custody two days following his arrest.”

Let’s analyze that statement.

The case mentioned by Bovino refers to a man named Alexander Ramos. To our knowledge, we are the only news entity that covered Ramos’ arrest, which took place on August 16, not March 30. However, we appreciate the designation of “national news.”

March 30 is indeed the date Ramos allegedly enticed a 32-year-old woman into his SUV by masquerading as a rideshare driver outside the Hangge Uppe nightclub at 14 West Elm Street. After entering his vehicle, the victim reportedly lost consciousness intermittently as Ramos drove her around before stopping in the 1100 block of North Lake Shore Drive. When she regained awareness, she found him assaulting her, with prosecutors alleging he continued the assault despite her resistance.

“Given his extensive and violent criminal history dating to 2002, why has he been allowed to roam freely in Chicago?” Bovino questioned on X. “Because of the city’s adoption of sanctuary policies that harm residents rather than assist them. But that changes now. Operation Midway Blitz aims to cleanse Chicago of criminal undocumented immigrants like him.”

Hold on there, commander. Judge John Hock mandated Ramos’ detention on August 18, and he has remained in Cook County Jail since then.

Regarding his “extensive and violent criminal record dating back to 2002,” Cook County court records reveal a solitary local felony conviction: a 2014 theft case that resulted in probation.

So, who is the individual captured by agents in the photo Bovino shared? We were curious too. WGN uncovered the truth: He is Columbino Ramos, a completely different individual who bears some resemblance to Alexander Ramos.

As reported by WGN, Columbino Ramos’ daughter mentioned that her father has lived in the U.S. without documentation for “many years,” working as a scrapper. ICE agents allegedly ensnared him last month by contacting him to collect fictitious scrap metal in Norwood Park.

Since his apprehension, Columbino Ramos has been transferred among federal facilities across five different states, his daughter informed WGN. Currently, the federal government has branded him a rapist, and as of Friday morning, Bovino has yet to correct the record.
