A 25-year-old man from Connecticut is accused of fatally shooting his two parents after a heated discussion about his financial difficulties, as reported by various news outlets.

Javian Adams was taken into custody on Tuesday in connection with the double murder that occurred at his family’s residence on Beverly Avenue in Waterbury on Monday, according to NBC Connecticut reported.

Authorities responded to the home shortly before midnight on Monday and discovered Carlene Williams, 51, and Marc Adams, 55, both suffering from gunshot wounds in the back of their heads.

head after his mother confronted him about his financial situation. Waterbury Police Department

Surveillance footage reportedly captured an altercation between Adams and his mother earlier on the same day, just before the shooting occurred.

During the argument, Carlene could be overheard saying, “You don’t pay rent, you don’t pay any bills, you don’t even buy food!”

Javian’s response was, “I don’t care no more. F–k what y’all say,” as stated in the warrant.

The video evidence allegedly shows a man resembling Adams leaving the residence and then returning shortly before the tragedies unfolded, per the report.

Carlene Williams, 51, chastised her son for his financial irresponsibility mere hours before her death, as recorded in the surveillance footage, according to the arrest warrant.

Neighbors claimed that frequent disputes occurred between Adams and his mother, with Carlene expressing concerns that her son had been taking money from her bank account, as highlighted in the NBC Connecticut report referencing the warrant.

Adams is said to have fled the scene using his mother’s vehicle, which he later discarded at Ledgewood Memorial Park in Middlebury.

He subsequently ran through a wooded area towards Waterbury, where he reportedly broke into a garage of a nearby home at 5:30 a.m. the following day.

Homeowner Jimmy Everitt recounted, “I woke up, went out, shined my flashlight into my garage, and he was waving back at me inside. I told him to leave several times.”

Everitt recalled Adams repeatedly insisting, “I’m hungry, I’m hungry,” until he eventually persuaded him to exit the garage. “I got stern with him, and he backed down and walked away,” he added.

Police later located Adams chilly, damp, and in a disoriented state, dressed only in underwear and socks, near a boat launch on Lake Winnemaug Road in Waterbury, according to further reports.

Records indicate that Adams was on probation for incidents related to domestic violence stemming from a 2024 case where he allegedly assaulted a woman, as indicated in the reports.

He faces multiple charges, including murder with special circumstances, murder during the commission of a felony, unlawful use of a weapon, carrying a pistol without a permit, theft of a motor vehicle, and illegal possession of a firearm.

Adams is currently being held on a bail amount of $6 million.
