A memorial service honoring the late Bob Broder, founder of the Broder Kurland agency and a seasoned talent representative, is scheduled for November 8 at Warner Bros.
Tribute will be paid by Chuck Lorre for his longtime agent and mentor Bob Broder in the vanity card during the Season 2 premiere of his CBS sitcom “Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage.”
Broder, who passed away last month at the age of 85, had a significant role at Chuck Lorre Productions for the past twelve years, showing his exceptional acumen in navigating complex licensing negotiations with Warner Bros. Television. Before that, he was the agent representing Lorre at Broder Kurland and ICM Partners, a crucial figure behind landmark series like “Two and a Half Men,” “The Big Bang Theory,” “Mike & Molly,” “Young Sheldon,” and others.
Renowned for his distinctive vanity cards, Lorre’s next installment on October 16 will showcase an image of Broder, appearing steadfast, with a golden retriever named Lola Pearl nestled on his lap.
“For twenty-five years, his presence guaranteed there was at least one grown-up in the room,” the message on the card poignantly states.
Broder’s family has organized a memorial service set for 10:30 a.m. PT on November 8 at the Steven J. Ross Theater on the Warner Bros. lot in Burbank.
Over his illustrious career, Broder represented some of the most prominent showrunners and directors of recent decades, such as James Burrows, Lorre, Christopher Lloyd (co-creator of “Modern Family”), and Glen and Les Charles (co-creators of “Cheers”). He was widely regarded as an elder statesman within the television community.
