Passes Away at 42
… Due to Cardiac Arrest

Varinder Singh Ghuman, a celebrated bodybuilder and actor from India, tragically passed away on Thursday at the age of 42.
His nephew shared the heartbreaking news with the media, revealing that Ghuman experienced a medical crisis while receiving treatment for a shoulder injury at a hospital.
Following Ghuman’s unexpected passing, his family sought clarification regarding the events leading up to it, prompting the hospital to issue a statement, which indicated that he suffered from sudden cardiac arrhythmia while under anesthesia.
Despite extensive attempts to resuscitate him, Varinder was pronounced dead at 5:36 PM.
The hospital remarked, “Fortis Hospital is deeply saddened by this unfortunate loss and offers heartfelt condolences to the grieving family and his many admirers,” within their statement.
Known as VSG, he gained renown in the bodybuilding arena as one of the first vegetarian competitors, and he was the first Indian to obtain an IFBB pro card. He secured the 2009 Mr. India title and was a runner-up at Mr. Asia.
His passion for bodybuilding drew the attention of Arnold Schwarzenegger, who later appointed him as a brand ambassador for his health products.
VSG also ventured into acting, appearing in multiple films, including “Kabaddi Once Again,” with his last film role in 2023.
His cremation took place at Model Town in Jalandhar on Friday, attended by numerous mourners.
