Fans eager to catch every moment of Taylor Swift on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon are in for a treat.
Just days after the pop icon’s appearance on October 6, NBC aired an extended version of her interview with host Jimmy Fallon as a special segment on October 10.
While the earlier broadcast included highlights of Swift’s engaging appearance, several segments were omitted due to timing issues, but were subsequently made available online. This extended version brought together the edited material, culminating in a special encore episode that showcased more of what the singer had to share.
One of the segments that didn’t make it into the standard version involved Swift, 35, explaining her decision not to perform during the Super Bowl halftime show.
“Jay-Z has been incredibly supportive of me throughout the years,” Swift noted. “Our teams are quite close. They occasionally reach out to ask, ‘What does she think about…?’ However, that’s not an official offer; we keep things honest, especially since I’m in love with someone who literally plays that sport on the field.”
She elaborated that attending NFL games is all about focusing on her fiancé, Travis Kelce, and giving him her undivided attention.
“Can you imagine if he’s risking everything on the field each week—so much pressure and danger—and I’m just sitting there like, ‘What dance moves should I use? Should I do two verses of ‘Shake It Off’ followed by ‘Blank Space’ and then ‘Cruel Summer’?”
Swift graced The Tonight Show to promote her latest album, The Life of a Showgirl, but her conversation with Fallon, 51, also delved into her engagement to Kelce.
“He’s just my absolute favorite person in the world—no offense to anyone else,” she exclaimed. “The mere thought that I get to share my life with him forever… that’s what it’s all about. The ring symbolizes that—each glance at it reminds me that I get to be with him eternally.”
Swift also confirmed that the proposal happened just after she wrapped up recording her debut for the podcast, “New Heights.”
“For Travis, it felt like the podcast was a clever distraction to keep me from noticing what he was planning. He even had blackout curtains installed on every window of our home!”
During this time, Swift noticed Kelce’s nervousness before their podcast episode.
“I could tell he was anxious. He kept saying, ‘My heart is racing… I just want this to meet your expectations,’” she recalled. They had planned the podcast announcement together, and it was unusual to see him so jittery.
Post-recording, Kelce asked her, “Would you like to stroll around the backyard with a glass of wine?” and she replied, “I’m always up for that!”
Upon discovering the romantic outdoor setup Kelce created, Swift finally understood his nerves and the need for those closed curtains.
“It was a perfect fairy tale scenario for me,” she reflected.
During her Tonight Show appearance, Swift also dismissed various rumors swirling online about herself, including claims that she poked fun at her friend Selena Gomez for potentially getting married before she did at Gomez’s September nuptials to Benny Blanco.
“I did deliver a speech, but I specifically chose not to mention my engagement during that time,” she clarified. “It wouldn’t be right to overshadow someone’s wedding day with my news.”
Swift also shared insights with Fallon regarding her creative process while crafting songs like “Wood” for her Life of a Showgirl album.
“I went into the studio with the thought of creating a timeless, nostalgic sound,” she explained. “This idea about ‘knocking on wood’ and the superstitions emerged as a playful concept at first.
She humorously added, “I don’t really know how we reached this level of spiciness in the lyrics; we just clicked, and now I adore the song so much!”
