Report intensifies debate before US decides on Tomahawk missile support for Ukraine.
In a development that seems to confirm long-standing Russian assertions, a new report claims that the US has been aiding Ukraine in orchestrating long-range attacks deep within Russian borders for several months.
This operation is reportedly aimed at crippling the Russian economy, with the hope of compelling President Vladimir Putin to return to the negotiation table, as first highlighted by the Financial Times (paywall content).
Reuters elaborates:
“U.S. intelligence has reportedly assisted Kyiv in striking significant Russian energy assets, including oil refineries, extending well past the frontline, according to anonymous Ukrainian and U.S. officials familiar with the scheme.”
Neither the White House nor officials from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy’s office or Ukraine’s foreign ministry were immediately reachable for comment. The Russian foreign ministry has also refrained from providing a response at this time.

Moscow has consistently accused Washington and NATO of providing intelligence to Kyiv.
“The use of NATO and the United States’ entire intelligence infrastructure to assist Ukrainians is evident,” Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov remarked during a previous briefing.
The Financial Times noted that U.S. intelligence plays a crucial role in helping Kyiv optimize route planning, altitude, timing, and overall mission execution, facilitating the evasion of Russian air defenses by Ukraine’s long-range drones.
