Al Pacino
Remembering Diane Keaton: The One Who Got Away
Published October 12, 2025 5:39 PM PDT
Al Pacino is reportedly facing significant remorse over never marrying Diane Keaton, who sadly passed away at the age of 79.
According to the Daily Mail, a close friend of the 85-year-old actor indicated that he will “always regret not making a move when he had the chance.”
The informed source commented, “For many years after their separation, Al often reflected, ‘If it’s meant to be, it’s never too late for a do-over.’ Unfortunately, now it is,” emphasizing that Diane was indeed the love of his life.
Al and Diane first crossed paths in 1974 on the set of “The Godfather,” where Keaton portrayed his girlfriend. They began dating shortly afterward but parted ways in 1990, largely due to Al’s reluctance to commit to marriage.
It appears Diane found closure regarding their relationship; in 2017, she remarked that despite not being her choice back then, their separation ultimately worked out for the best.
As is known, Diane passed away on Saturday, though details surrounding her cause of death have yet to be disclosed.
