On a recent episode of “Sunday Morning Futures” hosted by Maria Bartiromo, Matt Taibbi, the editor-in-chief of Racket, and Mike Davis, President of the Article III Project, tackled the brewing storm surrounding the criminal charges against former FBI Director James Comey and New York Attorney General Leticia James.
Bartiromo outlined the situation: “James Comey has entered a not guilty plea for federal charges alleging false statements to Congress and obstruction of justice. In a parallel twist, Leticia James finds herself facing federal bank fraud charges in Virginia related to purportedly deceptive statements in a mortgage application that brought her approximately $19,000.”
Bartiromo sought Taibbi’s insights: “Matt, what are your thoughts on this unfolding saga?”
“The Comey scenario, particularly considering the Crossfire Hurricane investigation, should have been heralded as a Watergate-scale scandal back when it first surfaced,” Taibbi remarked. “It involved the surveillance of a major presidential candidate, which is a profound breach of political ethics.”
He elaborated on his perspective: “With the Arctic Frost and recent revelations, it appears that more Senators are finally acknowledging that political surveillance within the U.S. has plagued our system for far too long, largely escaping serious coverage.”
Bartiromo posed a pointed question to Davis: “Do you see a connection among these incidents? Many of our viewers are aware of the fabricated nature of the Russia collusion narrative that has persisted for over a decade. Is there enough here to warrant conspiracy charges against Comey and his associates?”
Davis articulated his belief that the indictments are merely the beginning of a larger inquiry. “Indeed, these initial charges against Comey and James are just the appetizers,” he argued. “The most substantial indictment—the main course—could well revolve around conspiracy against rights.”
He continued with a historical analogy: “For over three years, since the infamous Mar-A-Lago raid, I have suggested this would unfold. The Democrats orchestrated the Russian collusion narrative not only to bolster Hillary Clinton’s candidacy but also to mask her misdeeds and undermine Donald Trump’s campaign. They failed in their attempts, but once he assumed the presidency, their strategy shifted to lawfare against him.”
“You suspect the Mar-A-Lago raid was part of this broader scheme? Were they seeking the declassified assessment of Russia’s campaign influence during the 2016 election?” Bartiromo pressed.
“One thousand percent,” Davis affirmed passionately. “This is a cover-up of staggering proportions. The level of corruption we’re witnessing is unprecedented in American history. They have weaponized intelligence and law enforcement against their political opponents. This smacks of third-world tactics.”
In a final note, Davis warned, “To those engaged in this ‘lawfare’, justice is indeed on the horizon.”
