Bill Nye, renowned as the Science Guy, is set to expand his impressive career by making a guest appearance on television. The celebrated science educator will portray himself in an upcoming episode of ABC’s “High Potential” airing this Tuesday.
In this episode, Nye will lend his scientific expertise to assist Morgan Gillory, played by Kaitlin Olson, as she navigates a “Morgan Vision.” His guidance will bring her closer to cracking the case central to the plot.

Initially introduced as a janitor at the Los Angeles Police Department in Season 1, Gillory’s character transitions to a full-time consultant after successfully solving a murder case, showcasing her extraordinary IQ of 160. “High Potential” debuted in the fall of 2024 and swiftly secured a second season renewal in January before its season finale, making it a significant hit for ABC with an average of 16 million viewers per episode. The series premiere alone attracted over 30 million views, solidifying its popularity.
Nye is widely recognized for his iconic educational show “Bill Nye the Science Guy,” which aired in the ’90s. He later hosted a Netflix series titled “Bill Nye Saves the World” as well as a Peacock series called “The End Is Nye.” His appearances on shows like “The Big Bang Theory,” “The Masked Singer,” “Dancing With the Stars,” and “Blindspot” have further established him in popular culture.
Jointly starring with Olson, “High Potential” features Daniel Sunjata, Javicia Leslie, Deniz Akdeniz, Amirah J, Matthew Lamb, and Judy Reyes. The series is inspired by the French show “Haut Potentiel Intellectuel (HPI).” Developed for American viewers by Drew Goddard, who also serves as executive producer through Goddard Textiles alongside Sarah Esberg, Todd Harthan acts as both showrunner and executive producer. Olson contributes as a producer, while the show is produced by 20th Television, which has Harthan under an overall deal.
