French children’s content distributor Madgic Distribution, previously known as APC Kids, has made its inaugural appearance at MipJunior, celebrating the sale of its new animated series “Emerald” to Knowledge Canada, Mediacorp Singapore, and Noga Israel.
Based on the beloved book series by Harriet Muncaster, this 18 x 11-minute series, which includes a special 22-minute episode, is being produced by U.K.-based Kelebek Media for Sky Kids UK.
Targeting children aged 4 to 7, the series focuses on Emerald, a mermaid whose world is turned upside down when her mother weds the Sun King, making her a princess. The narrative follows Emerald’s journey as she adapts to a lifestyle that contrasts significantly with her previous life living with her father and his girlfriend above their restaurant.
To help her navigate the complexities of blending families, including a stepsister who is also a princess, Emerald is accompanied by Theodore the Sea Unicorn and Shelly the Sea Turtle, who add a touch of humor to her adventures.
“Emerald” serves as a companion to Kelebek Media’s 2D animated production “Isadora Moon” (48 x 11’ + 2 x 22’), which also draws inspiration from the global sensation crafted by Muncaster.
The original book series “Isadora Moon,” featuring a half-fairy, half-vampire protagonist who embraces her unique identity, has achieved remarkable success, selling over seven million copies in 42 languages worldwide. Madgic Distribution retains global distribution rights for the series, excluding the U.K., U.S., and Italy.
Lionel Marty, founder and managing director of Madgic Distribution, expressed enthusiasm, stating, “Harriet Muncaster’s ‘Emerald’ is adored by children around the globe, and we are thrilled to have secured sales with key broadcasters in Canada, Singapore, and Israel. These agreements mark the start of our international sales efforts, and we are eager to onboard more partners during Mipcom.”
Madgic Distribution boasts an expanding catalog of prestigious children’s and family properties, including animated series like “Jade Armor” and “Angelo Rules,” along with live-action titles such as “High Hoops,” “Hawa & Adam,” and “Showkids.” In addition, Madgic Distribution manages its own production entity, Zephyr.
