Airalo, the leading platform for eSIM technology, has launched a significant update to its mobile applications on iOS and Android, and I’m already appreciating the fresh design.
The company has touted this redesign as an “improved app experience” aimed at “simplifying connectivity” for users. Essentially, this update seeks to streamline the steps involved in purchasing, setting up, and renewing an eSIM.
The revised app features a sleeker look, with a redesigned home screen and reduced clutter, alongside a variety of new functionalities.
Notable additions include a side-by-side comparison feature for eSIM plans, device compatibility notifications before making a purchase, and a broader selection of packages. The new installation guidelines are user-friendly, making it easier to follow the setup process, and the app now includes a tool to verify your connection status.

Collectively, these enhancements aim to demystify the eSIM usage process, making it less daunting.
This became evident when I recently purchased an eSIM while testing the iPhone Air. Since Apple’s latest ultra-slim device relies solely on eSIM technology worldwide, I couldn’t use my regular method of swapping physical SIM cards.
I had never tried buying an eSIM on one phone and then activating it via QR code on another, but the experience was flawless.
Typically, I rely on an eSIM for international travel. Although my UK SIM offers free roaming within the EU, it can be incredibly challenging when venturing beyond that area. An eSIM allows me to connect immediately upon landing, avoiding long queues at the airport for a potentially expensive and complicated local SIM card.
During my last three trips to the US, I’ve trusted Airalo, and it has consistently delivered reliable service. With around 20 million users globally, I know I’m in good company.
The redesigned Airalo app is currently available for all recent iPhones and Android devices. If it’s not showing up yet, try checking the Google Play Store to manually install any pending updates.
