A tragic incident occurred last week on the Mississippi River in Minnesota, resulting in the loss of a married father of four and his dog. Authorities confirmed the details.

Tyler Tasche, 28, was fishing with his younger brother and grandfather when their boat approached a waterfall in Monticello on October 7, as reported.

As he tried to maneuver the boat away, it capsized, throwing everyone, including his black Pomeranian, into the river. His grandfather, 66-year-old Mark Tasche, told People.

The only family member wearing a life jacket, Mark managed to reach the shore, while Tyler’s 18-year-old brother, Tristian, succeeded in flipping the boat back over, according to reports.

However, Tyler remained unaccounted for.

“I’ll always remember Tristan shouting at me to help turn the boat because he thought his brother was beneath it,” Mark Tasche recounted.

“But Tyler wasn’t there. He was already gone.”

Later, Tyler was found by personnel at the nearby Xcel Energy power plant, where rescue deputies attempted to revive him, but it was too late, reported the Wright County Sheriff’s Office according to WCCO.

His beloved dog, Bonnie, also perished in this heartbreaking event.

“I can’t imagine going on a boat again,” Mark Tasche told WCCO.

“I’m unsure if I’ll ever fish again. I wish it was me instead of Tyler. If only I could exchange places with him while he’s being cremated now, I would.”

The devoted father leaves behind a grieving wife and four children, aged between 5 and 10, as reported by People.

A dedicated stay-at-home dad, he cared for his autistic daughter.

“There’s an enormous void now,” Mark Tasche expressed to WCCO. “Tyler was loved by everyone. He was always there to help.”
