4:30 PM PT — A spokesperson for Wendy has informed TMZ, stating: “In light of recent reports, Dr. Wendy Osefo was not dismissed from her position at Wesleyan University. She officially submitted her resignation prior to any public announcements made by the institution.”
They further explained, “Dr. Osefo’s decision to resign was voluntary, made independently, and communicated to the university before any media coverage began.”
1:23 PM PT — In a recent communication, Wesleyan University confirmed to TMZ that Wendy has resigned from her academic position.
In unfortunate news for “The Real Housewives of Potomac” star Dr. Wendy Osefo, she and her spouse Eddie were charged with fraud on Friday, and it has now come to light that she has also lost her academic position.
Wendy had been serving as a Distinguished Visiting Professor of Sociology at Wesleyan University, but a statement from the university to TMZ on Tuesday simply stated, “Wendy Osefo is no longer with Wesleyan University.”
In addition to her role at Wesleyan in Connecticut, Wendy also had teaching engagements at Johns Hopkins University in Maryland before resigning in 2024. She holds degrees from Temple University and Johns Hopkins, along with a Ph.D. in public affairs and community development from Rutgers University.
As reported, documents revealed by TMZ indicate the ‘RHOP’ star is facing 16 charges — which include seven felonies for allegedly committing fraud exceeding $300 and one misdemeanor for making a false statement to a law enforcement officer.
It was mentioned last week that the charges stem from an event that occurred last year when the couple reported their home was ransacked after returning from a trip to Jamaica.
According to the prosecution’s bail recommendation, Wendy and Eddie informed police that several designer bags and jewelry had been stolen; interestingly, Carroll County sheriff’s deputies claim Wendy was later spotted in a social media post wearing a diamond ring that had been reported missing!
This news follows closely the release of ‘RHOP’ cast member Karen Huger, who was recently freed from jail after serving six months of a one-year sentence for repeated DUIs.
The tenth season of ‘RHOP’ premiered on October 5.
