Seoul’s format agency Something Special has successfully secured two agreements with India’s Karman Unlimited during Mipcom. These include the licensing of the reality show “Unforgettable Duet” and the unscripted comedy series “Hit & Miss Tour” for Indian adaptation.
The show “Unforgettable Duet” focuses on patients with dementia as they embark on journeys aboard a Memory Bus, accompanied by their loved ones. The experience is enriched with personal memorabilia and a cherished song aimed at evoking memories. It concludes with a poignant studio duet between the patient and their relative, followed by a tribute performance by well-known artists.
Meanwhile, the comedic travelogue titled “Hit & Miss Tour” follows a group of five comedians—who have been friends for 20 years—as they engage in friendly competitions across various mini-challenges during their travels together. This format has successfully featured over 210 games and received sponsorships from tourism boards in Turkey and Greece. It stands as the leading program on SK Telecom subsidiary Channel S, produced by Media S.
Jin Woo Hwang, president and executive producer of Something Special, expressed enthusiasm regarding the partnerships saying, “We are delighted to collaborate with Karman Unlimited in India. Our goal remains to share Korean formats globally. The Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) has been instrumental in supporting our initiatives at Mipcom, and we’re eager to announce further collaborations stemming from this market soon.”
Karman Unlimited founder Sunita Uchil also shared her excitement, stating, “This marks our first collaboration with South Korea, and we are thrilled to partner with Jin and his team to introduce these diverse formats to Indian viewers. The touching narrative of ‘Unforgettable Duet’ will strike a chord with families nationwide, while ‘Hit & Miss Tour’ is certain to bring joy and laughter to our audience.”
Something Special was established in 2019 by Hwang and InSoon Kim, executive VP and head of content, and is recognized as Korea’s inaugural TV format agency. They represent international rights for renowned Korean independent producers and broadcasters concerning both scripted and unscripted content.
Uchil, a veteran from Zee TV International, founded Karman Unlimited to concentrate on global co-productions, content licensing, and diverse formats.
