In a dramatic turn of events, a Texas registered nurse was fired on Monday after a bodycam video surfaced where she shockingly declared her intention to “let cops and their families die” during her own drunk driving arrest.

Thirty-five-year-old Crystal Tadlock was stopped for speeding late Saturday night in Magnolia, Texas, where she subsequently failed a field sobriety test.

According to the Magnolia Police Department’s social media update: “A traffic stop was conducted on 1488. After an intoxication investigation, the female driver was arrested for DWI. The female, who is a nurse, stated that if any of us came to her hospital, that she would make sure we died. Unfortunately, we couldn’t charge her with not being a very nice person…”

As she was being taken into custody, Tadlock allegedly shouted at the officers nearby, “I will let you die, and your families too,” openly threatening to neglect her responsibilities as a nurse, an act that directly contradicts her profession’s ethical oath to do no harm.

ABC13 reported:

On the released footage, while seated in the back of a patrol vehicle, she made it clear: “I’m a (expletive) nurse, and when you come through my hospital, don’t worry, I’ll let you die,” she states defiantly.

Following a brief exchange with an officer, she ominously added, “All your family members,” before questioning if her remarks were being recorded.

Officers noted that Tadlock took an unusually long 40 seconds to pull over, ran a red light, and struck a piece of concrete. They observed her with bloodshot eyes and slurred speech, admitting to having consumed two drinks at a concert.

During her sobriety testing, witnesses reported that she nearly toppled over, which she attributed to a recent eye injection.

WATCH:

Hospital administrators at Memorial Hermann Greater Heights quickly acted to suspend her after being informed of the incident on Saturday. By Monday afternoon, her termination was confirmed.

“Immediately upon learning of this incident on Saturday, we took swift action to suspend the employee, pending investigation. She has subsequently been terminated. The safety and privacy of our patients, visitors, and workforce are our top priority, and we take such matters very seriously,” the hospital statement read.

Tadlock’s earlier commendable reputation includes receiving the DAISY Award in 2021 for her exemplary care and dedication during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The DAISY Award is an international recognition honoring nurses who exhibit extraordinary clinical proficiency and compassionate care.

According to the Daisy Foundation:

“Crystal is an exceptional ICU nurse who always goes above and beyond when providing care for patients as well as assisting the healthcare team. She exemplifies a compassionate, caring demeanor towards patients, families, colleagues, and all healthcare staff.”

“Crystal is ever willing to assist her team, often working 5-6 days a week during the pandemic to ensure patient care was uninterrupted.”
