Oppo is frequently underrated when discussing top-tier smartphones in Western markets, yet their latest flagship offerings make it increasingly difficult to overlook them.

The Find X9 and Find X9 Pro, which were launched in China today, boast impressive specifications that could give major players like Samsung, Google, and Apple a run for their money.

Notably, Oppo is breaking free from the usual lengthy gap between launches in China and those elsewhere, which often plagues its competitors. The Find X9 series is set to make its European debut at an event in Barcelona on October 28, which is less than two weeks away. Furthermore, it appears both variants will be available this year, unlike the previous model where only the Find X8 Pro made it to the UK market.

At the forefront of the specifications are the formidable battery capacities. The standard Find X9 features a substantial 7025mAh battery, while the Find X9 Pro steps it up to an impressive 7500mAh.

This advancement is partly due to the innovative silicon-carbon technology that allows for a higher energy density in a compact form. Even the heftier Pro version maintains a reasonable thickness of 8.3mm and weighs in at 224g, making these devices relatively manageable.

While many flagship Android models are turning to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, Oppo has opted for MediaTek this time. Both the Find X9 and X9 Pro are equipped with the Dimensity 9500, its latest and most powerful chipset, ensuring outstanding performance.

The standard Find X9 is outfitted with a 6.59-inch display, slightly smaller than the Pro’s 6.78-inch screen. While both models offer high-resolution 120Hz AMOLED displays, only the Pro version incorporates LTPO technology to dynamically adjust the refresh rate below 60Hz, enhancing battery efficiency.

Each device is equipped with a customizable AI button on the side, along with a dedicated camera shutter button.

A significant enhancement on the Pro is found in the periscope telephoto camera, which continues to offer 3x optical zoom but upgrades to 200MP, compared to the regular model’s 50MP. There’s also an optional extender accessory available, which necessitates the use of a special official case.

Additionally, it’s important to highlight that the cameras on the Find X9 series maintain the Hasselblad branding, in contrast to their sibling brand OnePlus, which has dropped it for the upcoming OnePlus 15.

Regarding pricing, the initial figures from China offer limited insight—The Find X9 is priced starting at ¥4,399 (approximately £460/$620), while the X9 Pro comes in at ¥5,299 (about £550/$740). However, these direct currency conversions typically underestimate their expected retail prices in other markets, based on past trends with the Find X8 series.

At launch, the Find X8 Pro was priced around £1,049, while the standard Find X8 retailed for roughly £699. It will be interesting to see the price adjustments for the new Find X9 models.
