“The timing couldn’t be better for this. Had I attempted it sooner, it would have felt premature,” Beckham reflected. “I dedicated two decades to cultivating my brand. My four years with the Spice Girls during which I took such pride—and yet, that chapter has defined me extensively. Even now, I find myself challenging those perceptions. I believe that sharing my past and my journey at this moment will not jeopardize the brand I’ve established. I feel I’ve rightfully earned my place.”

Clad in a light pink silk dress and striking oxblood patent mules, the icon formerly recognized as Posh Spice joined Vanity Fair’s global editorial director, Mark Guiducci, for an informal discussion. As she spoke between clips, the mother of four candidly addressed the project’s themes—mental health, eating disorders, and diminishing self-worth. “I didn’t initiate this process with those topics in mind. They emerged organically during conversations with the incredible director, Nadia,” Beckham remarked.

Guiducci also invited her to participate in Vanity Fair’s classic quick-fire Proust questionnaire. Demonstrating her comedic talent, the audience erupted in laughter when Beckham, her diamonds glimmering under the lights, answered a question about her greatest indulgence with, “I’m actually not that extravagant…” (Meanwhile, Bravo’s Andy Cohen in the audience may have pondered, “What if…?”)

Beckham praised designer Roland Mouret for playing a crucial role in her career trajectory—highlighting his early belief in her ability and his guidance in learning to dress for herself rather than for anyone else’s judgment. “He said, ‘Ditch the WAG. The implants? They’re out of here.’ I hope Anna doesn’t mind hearing that!” she chuckled.

When Vogue asked what advice she would give to her past self anxiously awaiting press in a suite at The Waldorf Astoria years ago, just before unveiling her first collection of ten dresses, Beckham took a moment to consider. “Honestly, I wouldn’t change a thing because I really loved the journey and committed myself fully. I would probably just wrap my arm around myself and say, ‘Go…enjoy the ride.’”

As guests began to exit the screening room, Beckham made sure they left with a special memento: her fragrance, 21:50 Rêverie. This scent, which often wafts through the air at her fashion shows, was inspired by the evening in 2001 when she first revealed to her husband her ambition to start her own fashion label.
