Summary

  • South Korean reports indicate the end of the Edge series
  • No Galaxy S26 Edge will be released
  • Poor sales figures for Galaxy S25 Edge

It appears that Samsung has decided to cancel the Galaxy S26 Edge smartphone due to disappointing sales numbers from the previous model.

Rumors about the discontinuation of the Edge line have circulated for some time, especially after the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge underperformed in the market.

A new South Korean report claims that the decision has been made: the Samsung Galaxy S26 Edge will not be released.

Limited Options from Samsung

Newspim has reported that anonymous sources within Samsung confirmed that employees were advised about discontinuing the Edge line just five months post-launch, meaning a Galaxy S26 Edge model will not be forthcoming.

The decision seems to be directly linked to the poor sales of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, which sold only 1.31 million units by August. In contrast, the Samsung Galaxy S25+ sold 5.05 million units, while the top performer, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, moved 12.18 million units.

The Galaxy S25 Edge received a tepid reception, including critiques on these pages, due to the necessary compromises for its slim design.

According to Anyron’s analysis, the battery life didn’t meet expectations, and the camera setup lacked a dedicated telephoto lens, which is unusual for a phone priced at £1,100.

Samsung’s Next Steps

With no Galaxy S26 Edge on the horizon, Samsung will revert to its main offerings in January, featuring three models: the Samsung Galaxy S26 (which may be rebranded as Pro), the Galaxy S26+, and the Galaxy S26 Ultra.

The Galaxy S25 Edge will likely be phased out once the existing stock is depleted.

Although the likelihood of a Galaxy S26 Edge launch seems slim, reports indicate that its development has nearly wrapped up, leaving open the possibility for a future release in late 2026.

While the reasoning behind such a launch remains unclear, there is always the potential for market conditions, like strong sales of Apple’s iPhone Air at the beginning of 2026, to motivate Samsung to re-enter the slim phone market.
