A dog was found abandoned, tethered to a fence, in southern Connecticut just as a nor’easter was unleashing heavy rain and strong winds on the region earlier this week.
The Robin I. Kroogman New Haven Animal Shelter in New Haven reported that the dog was discovered on Monday left outside in the drenching rain without any form of protection.
Images of the pup revealed it tied to a chain-link fence surrounded by waterlogged ground, a consequence of several days of continuous rainfall.
Shelter officials remarked that this unfortunate incident is not an isolated case within the Connecticut city.
“This tragic scenario is sadly a common problem in our community of New Haven,” they stated.
The shelter confirmed that the dog is now safe and under their care.
Anyone who may have information about those responsible for placing the dog in such a dangerous situation is encouraged to contact the shelter.
“By working together, we can guarantee the welfare of animals in our community and ensure accountability for such overt neglect,” shelter officials emphasized.
