US Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris has defended her record as a prosecutor and promised to decriminalize marijuana if elected president, while also focusing on gaining support from black men in an interview with radio personality Charlamagne tha God.

Charlamagne, known for his candid interviews on The Breakfast Club, questioned Harris about rumors of disproportionately incarcerating black men during her time as San Francisco’s district attorney. Harris defended herself by stating she was progressive on marijuana cases and acknowledged the harm it has caused certain populations, particularly black men.

The interview with Harris aired on iHeartRadio on Tuesday, with another interview scheduled on Fox News the following day. Harris is also considering appearing on Joe Rogan’s podcast to reach a broader audience.

As Harris faces a narrowing lead against President Trump in recent polls, she has been actively engaging with various media outlets to promote her policy proposals aimed at black men, such as forgivable small business loans and access to the legal marijuana industry.

The Harris campaign, along with Democratic leaders like former President Barack Obama, are concerned about black voter turnout and support in the upcoming election. With a significant portion of young black men expressing support for Trump, Harris is working to secure their backing to become the first black woman president.

Despite challenges, Harris remains focused on her goal of winning the presidency and making history as the first black woman to hold the office.
