Samsung Galaxy S26 Edge: A New Slim Model in the Works

The Samsung Galaxy S26 Edge has been the subject of much speculation in recent months. Initially rumored to replace the Samsung Galaxy S26+ in Samsung’s flagship lineup for early 2026, then reported to be scrapped due to poor sales of its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, the fate of the Galaxy S26 Edge has been uncertain.

However, according to Dutch website Galaxyclub, Samsung is taking a more radical approach. Instead of resurrecting the Galaxy S26 Edge, the company is said to be working on an entirely new and potentially even slimmer phone codenamed ‘More Slim’. This new model reportedly started development after the intended Galaxy S26 Edge, indicating that it may not be ready for the full Galaxy S26 launch in January.

It seems that Samsung is considering both options – reinstating the Samsung Galaxy S26+ and launching a new and improved Samsung Galaxy S26 Edge at a later date. This strategy mirrors the release of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, which hit the market almost four months after the Samsung Galaxy S25.

In related news, Samsung has officially commented on the performance of the upcoming Galaxy S26 series. VP of Samsung’s Mobile Experience Division, Daniel Araujo, highlighted features such as next-gen AI, a second-generation custom AP, and stronger performance with new camera sensors during a recent earnings call. The mention of a “second-generation custom AP” likely refers to the Exynos 2600, which is reportedly outperforming competitors like Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and Apple’s A19 Pro in early tests.

Early benchmark results for the Exynos 2600 have been promising, showing comparable performance to the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. Whether this “custom AP” refers to Samsung’s collaboration with Qualcomm or its own proprietary chipset, it’s clear that the Galaxy S26 series is poised to deliver high performance.

With Samsung’s focus on innovation and performance, the upcoming Galaxy S26 lineup promises to be an exciting addition to the smartphone market. Stay tuned for more updates on Samsung’s latest flagship devices.
