Denny Hamlin has addressed rumors regarding a potential settlement between 23XI Racing, Front Row Motorsports, and NASCAR in their ongoing antitrust lawsuit. Despite reports suggesting a deal was close, Hamlin made it clear that no agreement is imminent. The speculation arose after both parties met in court recently, leading some to believe that a resolution could be reached before the season finale.

Various media outlets, including The Athletic, had reported that NASCAR was on the verge of settling with the two teams before the championship weekend. When asked about these reports, Hamlin stated that most of the information was from the media and not from direct communication. He confirmed that a settlement was not close at this time.

The lawsuit was initiated in October 2024 by 23XI Racing and Front Row Motorsports, accusing NASCAR of operating an unlawful monopoly by refusing to sign a new charter agreement. As a result, NASCAR revoked their charters for a portion of the 2025 season. A federal judge dismissed NASCAR’s counterclaim of collusion between the teams, setting the stage for the main trial scheduled for December 1, 2025.

On the track, Denny Hamlin faced more challenges at Martinsville Speedway before heading to the Championship 4 in Phoenix. During the Xfinity 500 race, engine trouble forced him to retire early, marking his third DNF of the season. Despite starting fifth and running strongly in the race, smoke and engine failure ended his hopes of a good finish. This setback was compounded by similar issues faced by his Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Chase Briscoe and Toyota driver Riley Herbst, raising concerns about reliability ahead of the championship race.

Reflecting on the mechanical problems, Hamlin expressed his worries but acknowledged that there was little he could do to prevent them. Despite the setbacks, Hamlin enters the Phoenix championship race as the driver with the most wins in the 2025 season, with six victories under his belt. He will compete against William Byron, Kyle Larson, and Chase Briscoe for the coveted title.

As the season reaches its climax, the uncertainty surrounding the lawsuit and the challenges faced on the track add another layer of intrigue to the NASCAR championship race. Denny Hamlin’s resilience and determination will be put to the test as he vies for the championship against his formidable competitors. In the midst of legal battles and on-track obstacles, the quest for glory continues in the high-stakes world of NASCAR.
