Apple CEO Tim Cook Signals Openness to Acquisitions and Partnerships in AI

During Apple’s Q4 2025 earnings call, CEO Tim Cook expressed the company’s willingness to explore acquisitions and partnerships to drive advancements in artificial intelligence (AI). Cook provided an update on Apple’s next-generation AI-powered Siri, confirming that the service remains on track for a 2026 launch.

Cook stated, “We’re making good progress on it, and as we’ve shared, we expect to release it next year.” When asked about Apple’s approach to developing personalized AI, Cook mentioned a three-pronged strategy involving in-house foundation models, partnerships with third-party providers, and potential acquisitions.

Regarding acquisitions, Cook emphasized that Apple is actively monitoring the market for opportunities that align with its roadmap. In a pre-earnings interview with CNBC, Cook hinted at upcoming AI partnerships similar to the collaboration with OpenAI to integrate ChatGPT into Siri and Apple Intelligence.

Apple’s commitment to enhancing AI capabilities was further highlighted during the earnings call, with Cook discussing the use of foundation models in Private Cloud Compute, a cloud intelligence system tailored for private AI processing. Cook revealed that Apple has already implemented Private Cloud Compute for Siri queries and is expanding its infrastructure, including server manufacturing in Houston.

According to Cook, AI is increasingly influential in consumers’ smartphone choices. He stated, “Apple Intelligence is a factor, and we’re very bullish on it becoming a greater factor.” As Apple continues to innovate in the AI space, the integration of advanced technologies and strategic partnerships remains a key focus for the company.
