Emmy Kasbit Shines at Lagos Fashion Week with Spring 2026 Collection

Emmy Kasbit, the renowned Nigerian designer, stole the show at Lagos Fashion Week with his Spring 2026 collection, drawing in a crowd of celebrities and influencers. Emmanuel Okoro, the creative mind behind the brand, announced that this collection marked a new beginning for Emmy Kasbit, stating backstage, “This is not a continuation, it’s a rebirth.”

The inspiration behind this season’s collection came from King Jaja, a prominent figure and founder of the Opobo Kingdom in Eastern Nigeria. Okoro and his team embarked on a journey to Jaja’s hometown to delve deeper into his history and capture his legacy authentically. Immersed in the riverine community, Okoro found inspiration in the colors of Jaja’s home, his personal style, and elements from his childhood, which served as the cornerstones of the collection. Okoro emphasized the brand’s commitment to preserving culture by weaving these stories into the fabric and narrative of the collection.

The runway opened with a tribute to King Jaja, as a black and white image of the late king seated on a grand wooden throne was projected onto the stage backdrop. A model followed suit, donning a woven hat, a brown shirt and trousers ensemble, and an oversized shoulder bag, reminiscent of Jaja’s reign and the fashion of ’70s Nigeria.

In a departure from previous collections that featured heavy prints and logos, Okoro focused on fabric experimentation this season. Silk was manipulated to create fringe detailing on various garments, while linen and deadstock wool were introduced as new materials. Standout pieces included a brown blazer paired with cream trousers and an oversized fringed bag, as well as the show-stopping closing look featuring an oversized fringed fuchsia pink coat paired with a matching knee-length skirt.

Emmy Kasbit’s Spring 2026 collection not only showcased Okoro’s creative prowess but also paid homage to Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage. The designer’s meticulous attention to detail and innovative approach to fabric manipulation solidified his position as a trailblazer in the Nigerian fashion industry.
