Elon Musk and Sam Altman’s Ongoing Feud Takes a New Turn

Elon Musk and Sam Altman, both former founders at OpenAI, have once again found themselves at odds with each other on Musk’s social media platform X. Altman, who is now the CEO of OpenAI, recently took to Twitter to share his frustration with the long-awaited Tesla Roadster, which he had reserved back in 2018.

Altman posted screenshots showing his attempt to cancel the reservation and request a refund of his $50,000 reservation fee, only to have his email bounce back. “I really was excited for the car!” Altman expressed, adding, “But 7.5 years has felt like a long time to wait.”

The second-generation Roadster, announced in 2017, has faced multiple delays, with Musk teasing a new version to be unveiled by the end of this year. Musk responded to Altman’s post by accusing him of “stealing a nonprofit,” referencing previous criticisms and legal disputes between the two regarding OpenAI’s restructuring as a for-profit company.

Not stopping there, Musk also brought up his rival AI startup, xAI, which is currently suing OpenAI and Apple for alleged collusion. Altman fired back, calling Musk’s accusations “remarkable,” given his own alleged manipulative actions against X and its competitors.

In a final jab, Musk pointed out that Altman had conveniently left out the resolution to his refund issue, claiming that Altman had actually received a refund within 24 hours. The ongoing feud between the two tech titans continues to play out on social media, with no end in sight.
