Two Young Girls Injured After Falling from Ferris Wheel at Louisiana Festival
Two young girls were hospitalized after a terrifying incident at the Harvest Festival on False River in New Roads, Louisiana. The girls, both under 13 years old, were thrown out of a Ferris wheel bucket when it unexpectedly tipped over. One of the girls had to be airlifted to a medical facility, according to Pointe Coupee Parish Sheriff Rene Thibodeaux.
Witnesses described the harrowing scene, with one girl appearing to still be lodged in part of the ride after the fall. Madison Fields, a witness, recounted hearing a loud noise and seeing the girls fall from the bucket. One of the girls landed on her face and suffered significant injuries.

Fields expressed shock and concern over the safety of the Ferris wheel ride, noting the absence of seatbelts in the buckets. She highlighted the potential dangers for children and suggested that seatbelts should be installed for added safety.
The condition of the girls is currently unknown, but Thibodeaux extended his thoughts and prayers to their families. The Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal is investigating the incident, while most rides at the festival have been cleared to reopen except for the Ferris wheel.
The Harvest Festival aimed to support the local agricultural community and ran from Friday to Sunday. The incident has raised questions about ride safety and the need for stricter regulations to prevent similar accidents in the future.
