G3 Capital president and Wall Street veteran, Jordi Visser, recently discussed the ongoing transition of Bitcoin (BTC) in the cryptocurrency market. Visser highlighted the decreasing volatility of Bitcoin, which has been a long-standing concern for institutional investors. He mentioned that both implied and realized volatility have dropped to 30 and below in some instances, making Bitcoin a more stable investment option.

One of the key criticisms that institutions have had about Bitcoin is its ownership concentration, with large wallets holding a significant portion of the supply. However, Visser pointed out that the number of outstanding shares in Bitcoin exchange-traded funds is increasing, indicating a shift towards more diversified ownership. This trend suggests that Bitcoin is becoming more accessible to new investors.

Visser also noted that early whales in the Bitcoin market are reducing their exposure, leading to a more institutionally diversified market. He compared this phase to traditional monetization events where early investors diversify their holdings after significant appreciation. According to Visser, this diversification is driven by opportunities in other sectors such as artificial intelligence (AI) and Chinese equities, which offer higher potential returns.

While some still view Bitcoin as a risky asset or digital gold, Visser argued that its correlation to stocks and gold has decreased, making it a valuable addition to a diversified investment portfolio. He emphasized that Bitcoin’s lower volatility and correlation with traditional assets make it an attractive option for investors looking to diversify their holdings.

Looking ahead, Visser remains bullish on Bitcoin, expecting a major acceleration in 2026 driven by fundamentals like tokenization and regulatory clarity. Despite admitting to being wrong about Bitcoin’s price trajectory, Visser believes that the ongoing “IPO process” will lead to a new phase of growth for the cryptocurrency.

In conclusion, Bitcoin’s evolving market dynamics and increasing institutional interest indicate a promising future for the leading cryptocurrency. With its improved stability and growing acceptance as a diversified asset, Bitcoin is poised to play a significant role in investment portfolios in the coming years.
