President Donald Trump made a bold prediction on Sunday, stating that Zohran Mamdani would be New York City’s worst mayor if elected. During a “60 Minutes” interview, Trump was asked about comparisons between Mamdani and himself, to which he responded with a lighthearted jab at Mamdani’s looks.
Trump went on to criticize Mamdani as a communist and threatened to withhold money from the city if he is elected. He expressed his preference for former Governor Andrew Cuomo over Mamdani, despite not being a fan of Cuomo, citing Mamdani as the lesser evil.
Cuomo, who lost to Mamdani in the primary but is running as an independent, faced backlash from Mamdani earlier in the day, who labeled him as Trump’s “puppet.” Mamdani took to social media to mockingly congratulate the former governor on this association.
The political drama continues to unfold as the election approaches, with tensions running high between the candidates and their supporters. It remains to be seen who will emerge victorious in this closely watched race for New York City’s top leadership position.
