Jerry Lorenzo of Fear of God to Receive 2025 CFDA Innovation Award
After twelve years of establishing Fear of God, Jerry Lorenzo continues to receive accolades for his innovative work. Most recently, he was honored with the prestigious 2025 CFDA Innovation Award on Monday night.
In an interview with Nicole Phelps on The Run-Through with Vogue, Lorenzo expressed his gratitude for the recognition, stating, “I just take it all as encouragement that I’m on the right path and doing what I’ve been called to do.”
From the inception of Fear of God, Lorenzo aimed to create luxury streetwear that reflected his unique perspective and personal journey. His encounter with Virgil Abloh, the founder of Off-White and Pyrex Vision, further fueled his passion for design and innovation.
As a self-taught designer, Lorenzo has continuously refined his craft, experimenting with fabrics, materials, and creative processes. His dedication to excellence has not only led to the growth of his business but also paved the way for collaborations and expansion into womenswear. Additionally, Fear of God is set to launch its first retail stores in New York and Los Angeles next year.
Despite these significant milestones, Lorenzo’s ultimate goal is to establish a brand that stands the test of time. He shared with Phelps, “I just want the brand to be around 50 to 100 years from now.” With his unwavering commitment to quality and innovation, this vision seems entirely achievable.
