The University of Arkansas is currently accepting applications for its Master of Arts in Art History program until January 15, 2026. This two-year residency program, located in the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences School of Art, focuses on the arts of the Americas and is conducted in partnership with the prestigious Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art.

This tuition-free program combines academic rigor with hands-on museum experience, preparing students for careers in art history, museums, and cultural institutions. Students have the opportunity to engage directly with artworks through seminars, exhibition development, and collaborative courses taught by experienced curators and scholars.

The program’s curriculum is designed around essential themes in understanding the arts of the Americas, including structures and systems, identity and community, environment, heritage, power, and circulation. Students also gain real-world experience through internships and collaborative projects, with opportunities to work with organizations such as Crystal Bridges, Art Bridges, and the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.

One of the unique aspects of the program is its emphasis on travel. Students participate in faculty-led courses in various international and domestic destinations, with funding available for travel, conference participation, and independent research. Recent destinations have included Barcelona, Madrid, and locations across Ghana, with upcoming trips planned to Mexico City and cities across Alabama.

Thanks to a generous gift from the Walton Family Charitable Support Foundation, all admitted students receive funding support for the duration of the two-year MA program. This financial assistance allows students to focus fully on their studies and academic pursuits without the burden of financial concerns.
