Blue Origin Set to Attempt Second Launch of New Glenn Rocket

After a successful first flight earlier this year, Jeff Bezos’ space company Blue Origin is gearing up for a second launch of its super heavy-lift rocket, New Glenn. The company has announced that the launch is scheduled for Sunday, November 9, from Launch Complex 36 in Cape Canaveral, Florida.

During New Glenn’s initial flight in January, the rocket’s second stage successfully reached orbit. However, the first stage encountered a setback as it exploded upon its return to Earth before Blue Origin could attempt to land it on a drone ship in the ocean.

Originally planned for a “late spring” launch, the timeline for the second launch has been delayed a few times as Blue Origin is taking extra precautions this time around. The upcoming launch will carry cargo for paying customers, including NASA’s twin ESCAPADE spacecraft bound for Mars. Additionally, a Viasat tech demonstrator will be onboard the New Glenn rocket.
