Taylor Momsen recently appeared on the popular “Call Her Daddy” podcast and discussed her decision to leave The CW’s “Gossip Girl” during Season 4. As a child actor with a successful career in films like “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” and “Spy Kids 2,” Momsen took on the role of Jenny Humphrey on the hit series.

In the podcast interview, Momsen revealed that she made the difficult choice to leave “Gossip Girl” in order to pursue her passion for music with her band, The Pretty Reckless. She described the process of trying to exit her contract as a “long battle” filled with arguments and pleas to be released from her obligations to the show.

Despite facing resistance from studio executives who labeled her as “ungrateful” for wanting to leave a successful TV series, Momsen stood her ground and fought for her freedom. She expressed frustration at being judged for wanting to pursue a different path in her career.

With the support of “Gossip Girl” showrunners Stephanie Savage and Josh Schwartz, Momsen was ultimately able to negotiate her exit from the show. They wrote her character out of the series in Season 4, allowing Momsen to focus on her music career without the constraints of her acting contract.

Looking back on her time on “Gossip Girl,” Momsen expressed gratitude towards the show’s creators for understanding her desire to explore new opportunities. She harbors no resentment towards the series and even made a cameo appearance as Jenny in the show’s 2012 finale.

As a fan of television and the show itself, Momsen appreciated the opportunity to reunite with the full cast for the series finale. She emphasized the importance of bringing closure to her character’s story and completing the show’s narrative arc.
