Authorities have apprehended a suspect in connection with a shooting episode that took place in the Brooklyn area of Wellington last weekend.
An individual who was targeted in the shooting incident, but fortunately did not sustain any injuries, fell from a fourth-floor balcony at the Pukehīnau Flats and was subsequently transported to the hospital with moderate injuries.
Law enforcement officials had initially declared that the victim was deliberately singled out and that they were actively pursuing the perpetrator.
This evening, the police disclosed that a 34-year-old suspect had been apprehended in Palmerston North and is scheduled to appear in the Palmerston North District Court on Saturday. The individual is facing charges of aggravated robbery and engaging in a dangerous act with the intent to cause serious bodily harm.
“We trust that the recent arrest will provide some relief to the Brooklyn and Te Aro communities, who we understand have been deeply affected by this incident,” stated Detective Jocelyn Bell of Wellington CIB.
Additionally, another individual of interest has been identified in connection to the incident at Pukehīnau Flats, and further charges may ensue. The investigation is still ongoing.
