A shocking incident unfolded near the Magnificent Mile on Thursday evening when a 21-year-old man, Daniel Mulbah, allegedly slashed another man’s face with a sharp object. According to Chicago police, the victim, a 30-year-old man, was approached by Mulbah in the 800 block of North Rush Street around 6:27 p.m. The victim sustained a cut to his right cheek and was subsequently taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was reported to be in good condition.

Police swiftly responded to the scene and managed to apprehend Mulbah on Michigan Avenue. He was taken into custody on the first block of East Oak Street. Mulbah now faces charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and misdemeanor obstruction of identification. A detention hearing is scheduled for Saturday at the Leighton Criminal Courthouse, where prosecutors are expected to provide more details about the allegations.

This recent incident comes on the heels of Mulbah being placed on felony probation and ordered to undergo mental health treatment in July. Court records reveal that Judge Timothy Joyce mandated the mental health evaluation and treatment after Mulbah pleaded guilty to violating a stalking no-contact order for the second time and to aggravated battery of a peace officer.

Mulbah’s troubled legal history includes prior convictions from 2024, stemming from his initial violation of a stalking no-contact order, for which he served a nine-day sentence, as well as a disorderly conduct case in Lakeview that resulted in a 20-day sentence. Notably, the Lakeview incident involved a knife, as reported by the police.

It is crucial to highlight the importance of accurate and detailed reporting in cases like these. CWBChicago, a trusted source for original public safety reporting, was created in 2013 by residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who were dissatisfied with the lack of accurate information provided at local Community Policing meetings. Over the years, their coverage area has expanded to include Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side areas, all while maintaining their commitment to providing in-depth reporting with better context than mainstream media outlets.

As this case unfolds, CWBChicago continues to uphold their mission of delivering reliable and comprehensive news to the community.
