Apple TV Show “Pluribus” Credits Highlight Human-Made Content

The latest Apple TV show “Pluribus” has caught the attention of viewers not just for its intriguing storyline, but also for a unique disclaimer in the credits. The disclaimer reads, “This show was made by humans,” underscoring the fact that the content was created without the use of generative AI.

This bold statement, positioned below a note about animal safety on set, could serve as a template for other filmmakers looking to showcase their commitment to crafting content without the assistance of AI technology.

Creator Vince Gilligan, renowned for his work on “Better Call Saul,” further emphasized his stance on AI in a recent Variety feature story. In the article, Gilligan expressed his disdain for AI, labeling it as “the world’s most expensive and energy-intensive plagiarism machine.” He likened AI-generated content to “a cow chewing its cud,” describing it as an endless loop of nonsensical material.

Gilligan humorously thanked Silicon Valley for, in his words, “yet again, messing up the world” with AI technology. His strong opinions on the matter add an interesting layer to the discussion surrounding artificial intelligence in the entertainment industry.

“Pluribus” marks Gilligan’s return to the science fiction genre, bringing together elements of mystery and extraterrestrial encounters. The show stars Rhea Seehorn, known for her role in “Better Call Saul,” as a romantasy author navigating an alien invasion.
