Scribe Raises $75 Million to Revolutionize Workflow Mapping with Scribe Optimize
After successfully assisting numerous enterprises in documenting their operational processes, Scribe has secured a $75 million investment at a post-money valuation of $1.3 billion for the launch of Scribe Optimize. This innovative platform aims to map workflows across organizations to identify areas where automation and AI can deliver tangible returns, rather than becoming a burdensome expense.
The recent Series C funding round, which consisted entirely of equity, was led by StepStone, with contributions from existing investors such as Amplify Partners, Redpoint Ventures, Tiger Global, Morado Ventures, and New York Life Ventures. Scribe’s co-founder and CEO, Jennifer Smith, revealed in an exclusive interview that the company had largely not tapped into the funds from its previous $25 million Series B round. This latest investment will fuel the rapid deployment of Scribe Optimize and related solutions, as businesses grapple with determining the most impactful applications of AI and automation.
Revolutionizing Workflow Automation
While many companies are eager to adopt AI technologies, Smith highlighted a common challenge they face – deciding what processes to automate first. Traditional methods of answering this question, such as interviews, workshops, or consultant engagements, often fall short in capturing the intricate details of daily work routines. Scribe Optimize addresses this issue by mining workflows to reveal real-time insights into tasks, frequencies, durations, and more, providing organizations with a comprehensive view of their operational processes.
Founded in 2019 by Smith and Aaron Podoln, Scribe’s flagship product, Scribe Capture, streamlines the documentation of work processes by generating step-by-step guides using a browser extension and desktop application. Customers leveraging Scribe Capture have reported significant time savings and accelerated onboarding for new hires.
Market Expansion and Growth
With over 10 million workflows documented across 40,000 software applications, Scribe boasts a user base of more than 5 million individuals and serves teams within 94% of Fortune 500 companies. Notable customers include New York Life, T-Mobile, LinkedIn, Hubspot, and Northern Trust. The startup has experienced rapid revenue growth, doubling its earnings in the past year and witnessing a fivefold increase in valuation since its previous funding round.
Looking ahead, Scribe plans to expand its presence in key markets such as the U.K., Canada, Australia, and Europe, in addition to its stronghold in the U.S. The company, which currently employs 120 individuals, aims to double its workforce over the next 12 months to support its ambitious growth trajectory.
