Two bucks engaged in a sparring match that took an unexpected turn early Sunday morning, leading them to crash through a window and into the basement of a home in Douglas County, as reported by first responders.
The incident occurred in Roxborough Park around 12:30 a.m. Sunday, with the deer colliding into the basement gym while butting heads, according to West Metro Fire Rescue.
Upon receiving a call from the startled homeowner, Colorado Parks and Wildlife dispatched two officers equipped with a tranquilizer gun. However, additional assistance was requested from West Metro Company 15 before the intruders could be sedated.
Firefighters utilized a tarp-like stretcher to safely remove the unconscious deer from the residence, as per West Metro officials.
Following the tagging of the deer by state wildlife officials, both animals were released back into the wild once they regained consciousness, the agency confirmed.
It is speculated that the bucks may reconsider engaging in another late-night showdown after this unexpected incident, noted the agency.
