Introducing “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Empire City” – A New VR Game Experience
Upcoming VR game “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Empire City” offers a unique twist on the beloved franchise by focusing on the quieter moments spent bonding with your brothers in the turtles’ cozy lair. This aspect of the turtles’ lives is often overshadowed by the action-packed adventures in other TMNT-inspired games.
In an exclusive gameplay teaser revealed by Variety, creative director Ace St Germain provides a glimpse into the immersive experience of playing as Raphael, Donatello, Leonardo, or Michelangelo in the VR world of the lair. Players will be able to truly embody a turtle, waking up with a shell on their back and experiencing the familiar aesthetics of their home base.
St. Germain describes the lair as an iconic location in the TMNT universe, a place that serves as a sanctuary where the turtles can unwind, play games, and spend time with their family. The goal of the game is to make players feel at home in this environment, offering a peaceful retreat from the chaos of fighting crime on the surface.
Developed by Beyond Frames and Cortopia Studios, “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Empire City” is set to release in 2026 and is currently available for wishlisting on Meta Quest and Steam VR. This groundbreaking game will be the first VR experience in the TMNT franchise, promising a fresh perspective on the beloved characters.
The game was created in consultation with Tom Waltz, a writer known for his work on the iconic “Turtles” series, “The Last Ronin.” “Empire City” arrives during a time of resurgence in turtle power, with multiple other TMNT projects in the works based on Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird’s original creations.
