James Van Der Beek, best known for his role in “Dawson’s Creek,” is in need of financial assistance to cover the costs of his cancer treatment. In an effort to raise funds, the 48-year-old actor has decided to collaborate with Propstore to sell memorabilia from his career.

The collection includes various items such as wardrobe, props, and set pieces. Among the listings are the prom necklace that Van Der Beek’s character, Dawson, gifted to Joey (played by Katie Holmes) in “Dawson’s Creek,” as well as the cleats and West Canaan Coyotes Hat worn by the actor in the 1999 film “Varsity Blues.”

Van Der Beek expressed his sentiments about parting with these items, stating, “I’ve been storing these treasures for years, waiting for the right time to do something with them, and with all of the recent unexpected twists and turns life has presented recently, it’s clear that the time is now.” He added that while there is some nostalgia attached to these items, he is glad to share them with those who have supported his work over the years.

The memorabilia will be available for purchase at Propstore’s annual Winter Entertainment Memorabilia Live Auction, scheduled to take place from December 5 to December 7. All proceeds from the auction will go towards covering Van Der Beek’s medical expenses.

Last year, Van Der Beek revealed that he had been diagnosed with stage 3 colorectal cancer. Colorectal cancer, which affects the colon or rectum, is one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers in both men and women in the U.S. The actor shared that he has been privately dealing with his diagnosis and is optimistic about his prognosis, with the support of his family.

Colorectal cancer treatment is known to have high costs, with more than $24.3 billion spent on treatment in the U.S. in 2020 alone. This accounts for 11.3% of cancer treatment costs in the country, according to the Centers for Disease Control.

By auctioning off his memorabilia, James Van Der Beek hopes to raise awareness about colorectal cancer and generate funds to support his ongoing treatment. Fans and supporters can participate in the auction to acquire pieces of Hollywood history while contributing to a meaningful cause.
