Google is set to expand its Ask Photos feature to over 100 new countries, allowing smartphone users to search for specific photos using natural language. However, this update comes with a disappointment for UK and European users as they are not included in the expansion.

In addition to Ask Photos, Google has announced several other new features for Google Photos, although the rollout of these features may be limited. One of the key additions is the ability to make conversational edits using natural language on iOS devices, following its initial debut on Pixel 10 and Android phones in the US.

Another exciting feature is personalized edits, which allows users to make specific edits to photos by describing the changes they want to make using natural language. For example, users can ask Google Photos to remove sunglasses, open eyes, and make someone smile in a group photo.

Moreover, Google has introduced Nano Banana, its AI image generation and editing model, to Google Photos. Users can now request different styles for their photos, such as transforming them into Renaissance portraits or mosaics, by using the “Help me edit” feature in the editor.

To assist users with editing using AI, Google has added AI templates powered by Nano Banana to the Create tab in Photos. These templates provide ready-made options for editing photos, such as creating professional headshots. However, this feature is currently only available in the US and India.

Lastly, Google has added an Ask button to Photos, allowing users to initiate an AI conversation about the contents of an image and explore different editing options. Overall, the new Google Photos update brings exciting features and enhancements, although some users may have to wait for them to become available in their region.
