Tragedy struck in North Canterbury today as a truck collided with a tree, resulting in the death of the driver. The incident occurred on Culverden Rd (State Highway 7) in Culverden around noon, prompting a swift response from the police.
Upon arrival, authorities found the driver, who was the only person in the vehicle, deceased at the scene. Thankfully, no other vehicles were involved in the crash.
The road was temporarily closed to allow the Serious Crash Unit to conduct a thorough investigation of the area. While the closure caused some delays, the NZ Transport Agency managed traffic flow with Stop/Go management between School Rd and Long Plantation Rd.
Police are currently looking into the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident, seeking to understand what led to the collision.
