Former Indian captain Kris Srikkanth has suggested that the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) should aggressively pursue Australian all-rounder Cameron Green in the upcoming IPL 2026 auction. Following the release of nine players by the 2024 champions, they now have a substantial amount of ₹64.30 crore to spend in the auction.
Green, who missed the 2025 IPL season due to injury, has been in exceptional form since his return. With an average of 43 and a strike rate of over 168 in eight T20Is this year, Green’s all-round skills have caught the attention of several teams vying for his services in the upcoming auction.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Srikkanth expressed his belief that Green would be an ideal fit for KKR, especially given his ability to clear the boundaries at Eden Gardens effortlessly.
In addition to Green, Srikkanth also emphasized the importance of nurturing speedster Umran Malik, who joined KKR in the 2025 auction but did not feature in any matches last season. Srikkanth highlighted Malik’s potential as a match-winner and stressed the need to boost his confidence to help him perform at his best.
Turning his attention to the defending champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Srikkanth commended the team for having most bases covered but advised them to focus on acquiring backup players in the upcoming auction. He suggested that players like Kuhnemann could serve as valuable backups for RCB.
Regarding the SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH), Srikkanth acknowledged the team’s strong top-order but emphasized the importance of consistently batting Heinrich Klaasen in the top four positions. He noted that SRH’s top-order had the potential to win matches single-handedly and advised against shuffling Klaasen down the order, citing it as a mistake from the previous season.
After finishing as runners-up in 2024, SRH had a disappointing campaign in 2025, finishing sixth with only six wins in 14 matches.
As the IPL 2026 auction approaches, Srikkanth’s insights and recommendations for KKR, RCB, and SRH could play a crucial role in shaping the strategies of these teams as they prepare for the upcoming season.
