Political journalist Olivia Nuzzi, known for her forthcoming tell-all book on her affair with Robert F. Kennedy Jr., has been accused by her ex-fiancé Ryan Lizza of having a relationship with former South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford in 2020 while they were together.
Lizza claimed to have found a love letter on hotel stationery that revealed Nuzzi’s infidelity with Sanford during his presidential campaign in 2020, as detailed in a newsletter post titled “Part 1: How I Found Out”.
The discovery came when Lizza found a note in Nuzzi’s belongings, expressing romantic sentiments towards someone named “Mark,” which confirmed his suspicions of her involvement with Sanford.
According to Lizza, Nuzzi’s relationship with Sanford intensified, leading to a sexual encounter at Sanford’s home. This revelation posed a challenge to their joint book project on the presidential campaign.
Lizza confronted Nuzzi about the affair and eventually sought help from his agent to address the situation.
Furthermore, Lizza revealed previous instances where Nuzzi had been involved with MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann, leading to a tumultuous end to their relationship.
The scandal involving Nuzzi’s affair with Kennedy also impacted her career, resulting in her departure from New York Magazine and a period of public silence before returning with a memoir and a new role at Vanity Fair.
