A recent raid at a sex and human trafficking operation in San Antonio, operated by members of the Tren de Aragua gang (TdA), resulted in the arrest of at least 140 illegal immigrants, according to authorities. The operation was part of a joint effort between the Texas Department of Public Safety, federal agencies, and local authorities, as announced by Texas Gov. Gregg Abbott.

This raid was in response to President Donald Trump’s executive order issued on Jan. 20, targeting transnational criminal organizations. More than 140 illegal immigrants from countries like Venezuela, Honduras, Mexico, and other South American nations were taken into custody by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents. The operation involved multiple federal agencies working together to combat human trafficking, drug smuggling, and other criminal activities.

A regional Homeland Security Task Force has been established to focus on dismantling drug cartels, foreign terrorist organizations, and criminal networks involved in various illegal activities. The task force aims to use sophisticated investigative techniques to target violent drug trafficking organizations and transnational criminal groups.

In Houston, ICE recently conducted a separate operation during the 43-day government shutdown, resulting in the arrest of 3,500 criminal illegal aliens. Among those arrested were individuals convicted of murder, child predators, sex offenders, and gang members, including an MS-13 member charged with a triple homicide in Dallas.

US Rep. Joaquin Castro, D-Texas, has raised concerns about the raid in San Antonio and has requested more information from the Justice Department and local agencies. He expressed worries about US citizens and immigrants with no criminal record being caught up in such operations.

The collaboration between federal and state agencies, along with the establishment of the Homeland Security Task Force, reflects a concerted effort to address the threats posed by transnational criminal organizations and ensure the safety and security of communities across the United States.
