Honor’s highly anticipated Honor 500 smartphone is set to launch on 24 November, as confirmed by the brand on Weibo. However, the excitement of the announcement was somewhat dampened by a leak that revealed the specifications of both the Honor 500 and the Honor 500 Pro.
According to established tipster Digital Chat Station, the Honor 500 Pro will feature a 6.55-inch 2736 x 1264 (1.5K) 120Hz flat display with 3840Hz PWM dimming. The phone will also come equipped with a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor for added security. The device will boast an all-metal frame and IP68, IP69, and IP69K dust and water resistance certification. Additionally, stereo speakers will flank the display, giving users an immersive audio experience.
Under the hood, the Honor 500 Pro will be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, a flagship chip known for its performance. The phone will pack a massive 8000mAh battery and support 80W wired and 50W wireless charging. In terms of photography, the device will sport a 200MP main sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide lens, and a 50MP Sony IMX856 3X telephoto lens, along with a 50MP selfie camera.
On the other hand, the Honor 500 will share a similar design and battery capacity with its Pro counterpart. However, it will be powered by a Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 SoC, similar to the Poco F7. Despite lacking a dedicated telephoto camera and wireless charging, the Honor 500 is expected to offer solid performance, as seen in the Poco F7.
The previous model, the Honor 400, received high praise for its premium design, impressive cameras, long-lasting battery, advanced AI features, and software support. With such positive feedback, the Honor 500 is anticipated to be a strong contender in the mid-range smartphone market.
While the Honor 400 Pro may not have been as impressive in terms of value, it still offered a range of features that appealed to consumers. With the launch of the Honor 500 series on the horizon, fans of the brand can look forward to an exciting new lineup of smartphones that promise to deliver on performance and innovation.
