Man Stabbed in Road Rage Clash in Midtown
Early Friday morning, a 38-year-old bystander was stabbed in the back by a driver after recording a road rage incident in Midtown, according to police and sources.
The victim witnessed a Jeep Grand Cherokee driver arguing with another motorist at West 49th Street and Seventh Avenue around 6 a.m. The bystander decided to start recording the altercation, leading to a confrontation with the SUV driver.
The Jeep driver aggressively approached the bystander, asking, “What do you want? Do you want something?” The situation escalated when the driver got in the bystander’s face, prompting the victim to push him back in self-defense.
The confrontation turned violent when the driver pulled out a blade and swung at the bystander, causing a cut on his back right rib cage. The victim received treatment at the scene but declined further medical attention.
The attacker, described as wearing a gray hoodie and blue jeans, fled the scene in his white Jeep and remained at large as of Friday evening. The other motorist involved in the initial dispute did not report the incident to the police.
