Experience design firm Murmur Ring, in collaboration with Empathy and the Institute of Design, is thrilled to extend an invitation to artists, designers, makers, and creatives of all backgrounds to participate in the upcoming Reclaiming Value: Sacred Valley Design Immersion. Scheduled to take place from June 15 to 19, 2026, in the breathtaking Sacred Valley of Peru, this immersive experience promises to be a transformative journey for all involved.

Unlike traditional tourist programs, Murmur Ring’s Immersions are built on a foundation of extensive research and meaningful relationships. Participants can look forward to intimate site visits with Peruvian artisans and innovators, offering exclusive insights into the region’s most forward-thinking creative practices. This unique opportunity will inspire new ideas, foster collaborations, and leave a lasting impact on participants’ creative endeavors.

One of the highlights of the immersion will be the chance to engage with renowned Peruvian makers, including Awamaki and Cerámicas Seminario. Awamaki, which translates to “made by hand” in Quechua, is dedicated to empowering women weavers in the Andes by providing access to global markets, business skills training, and financial independence. During the immersion, participants will have the opportunity to:

– Meet women weavers in their home communities
– Learn about the process of harvesting raw fibers and natural dyeing techniques
– Receive hands-on instruction in ancient weaving techniques from master artists
– Enjoy a home-cooked meal prepared by the artisans
– Purchase textiles directly from the cooperatives, ensuring fair compensation for the makers

Cerámicas Seminario, a family-run ceramic studio, has become a beacon of innovation in Peruvian ceramics over the past 30 years. The founders, Pablo Seminario and Marilú Behar, have cultivated a thriving enterprise that blends ancient artistic traditions with a contemporary aesthetic. Participants will have the opportunity to:

– Tour the studio and engage in a Q&A session with the founders
– Learn about the studio’s evolution and community-centered approach to business
– Witness artisans at work, shaping and firing ceramic pieces
– Take part in a hands-on ceramics workshop to learn the studio’s signature techniques

Another highlight of the immersion is a visit to MIL Centro, a unique research lab and restaurant dedicated to preserving traditional Peruvian crops and agricultural practices. Participants will have the opportunity to:

– Forage for native plants alongside local land stewards
– Learn about Andean ecological preservation practices
– Use foraged plants for natural dyeing and weaving
– Indulge in a multi-course meal inspired by Andean microclimates

Early bird reservations for the Reclaiming Value: Sacred Valley Design Immersion are available until November 30, 2025. Interested individuals are encouraged to apply early to secure their spot at an exclusive rate. Join Murmur Ring on this unforgettable journey into the heart of the Sacred Valley and immerse yourself in the rich creative tapestry of Peru.
