A Fatal Shooting Incident In Greeley
Tragedy struck in Greeley as a man was fatally shot by a police officer during a routine traffic stop near Banner North Colorado Medical Center. The incident occurred at 3:50 p.m. near 21st Avenue and 16th Street when a Greeley Police Department officer pulled over a vehicle for a traffic violation.
According to the 19th Judicial Critical Incident Response Team, the female driver exited the vehicle while the male passenger remained seated. It was known to the police that the man had a felony arrest warrant. When instructed to step out of the vehicle, he defied the order and reached for a bag in his lap.
Despite repeated commands from the officer, the man failed to comply, leading to the fatal shooting as reported by officials on Wednesday night. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, with his identity pending release by the Weld County Coroner’s Office.
