President Donald Trump unleashed a scathing attack on immigrants, former President Joe Biden, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, and Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) in a Thanksgiving message posted just before the holiday ended. In a lengthy tirade spanning over 500 words, Trump vowed to halt migration from Third World countries, cut federal benefits for non-citizens, and deport a broad spectrum of migrants for various reasons. He concluded his message with a pointed exclusion for those he deemed as threats to America’s values.
Trump’s abrasive holiday messages have become somewhat of a tradition, with past remarks targeting different groups like the “radical left lunatics” on Thanksgiving and wishing them to “ROT IN HELL” on Christmas. This year, he kicked off his Thanksgiving message by thanking American citizens and patriots for tolerating the country’s division and disruption caused by what he views as misguided immigration policies.
The President singled out Somali migrants in Minnesota, labeling Somalia as a “decadent, backward, and crime-ridden nation.” He also made baseless claims about Rep. Ilhan Omar’s immigration status and criticized Gov. Walz as “seriously retarded.” Trump promised to deport individuals who are not deemed as assets to the United States and those who fail to embrace the country’s values. He pledged to denaturalize migrants who disrupt domestic tranquility and deport any foreign national considered a public charge or security risk.
Trump’s anti-immigrant rhetoric intensified following an attack on two National Guard members in Washington, D.C., where one guard later succumbed to her injuries. The suspect, an Afghan immigrant, had entered the country legally through a resettlement program under the Biden administration and was granted asylum during Trump’s presidency.
